Ground stops are expensive for the airlines and therefore every effort is made to make them shorter, thus increasing the pressure on baggage handling staff. Air film pallets were introduced to enable heavy pieces of baggage and freight to be floated within the cargo hold, thus saving strain and injury to baggage handlers.

Except being an efficient and ergonomic method of loading, the air film pallets reduce damage to the aircraft.

Other airlines using Solving air film pallets are SAS in their MD80 / DC9 aircraft and Maersk Air. SAS uses pallets equipped with perforated air bearings enabling the pallet to run on floors with joints.
