The Solving AGVs are entirely automatic, designed for continuous 24- hour, 7-day operation. They are equipped with a variety of safety devices to avoid injury or collision and are controlled digitally by in-floor inductive wire guidance, receiving their instructions from the sheet cutter via a fixed PC-based Solving control centre.

The system is used to move 3.5 tonne reels from the unpacking line to the sheet cutter, and also to collect cores from the cutter for transporting to the core handler. Equipped with load forks that adjust to accommodate empty cores of different sizes, the AGVs provide exceptional flexibility.

Speed and efficiency have been considerably improved as these activities were previously carried out manually, and the cutting machine area is now kept clean and tidy.

A single PC supervises the activities of the AGV, the sheet cutter and wrapping lines, a unique feature of Solving's installation. The entire system is linked using the latest data transmission technology, and is helping to improve factory efficiency.

Solving's new AGV system serves 16 stations in three production halls, making it possible to achieve total control over material flow, minimising product damage, and reducing shift labour costs.
