Transformers on air
Since the 1980s, Solving has been installing air film based transport systems for transformer manufacturers all over the world; many of these are in ABB factories.
At ABB Trasformatori S.p.A., Italy, two 220-tonne radio controlled transporters were installed for moving tranformers on stillages and three transporters were installed for handling tranformer components.
ABB Transformatoren GmbH, Germany, has invested in a 200-tonne air film platform to complement their previous equipment.
At ABB Transformers in Sweden, new radio controlled units were installed to achieve improved reliability and safety when moving tranformers weighing up to 500 tonnes.
