One of Solving's latest installations is Wartsila NSD Grandi Motori in Italy. The Solving installation, consisting of air film planks, external drive units and automatic air supply systems, transports the engines weighing almost 600 tonnes from assembly cells to the despatch area. The equipment is radio controlled and can be manoeuvred with millimetre precision by a single operator.

In the production line for the Wartsila 20 engine at Wartsila in Finland the engines stand on assembly carriers fitted with air bearings. The major advantage of using air is to enable the diesel engine to be turned and accurately positioned at the various assembly stations, and to allow a single engine to be taken out of the production line if necessary.

Wartsila NSD in Turku (Finland) was one of the first companies to use Solving air film technology during assembly. Today, their engine blocks are transported on air bearings to the washing and machining cells, and finished engines are also moved out of the production hall on air.

At the Cummins factory in the UK and the WWartsila factory in France engines are moved along production lines on remote controlled Solving air film transporters. In the washing and painting areas railed Solving transporters are used.
